Books:
Old time musician, fiddler, and founding member of Highwoods Stringband, Walt Koken reminisces about traveling and playing old time music in the 1960’s and 70’s.
Folks who have enjoyed Walt’s “Tales From the ‘Woods” series in the Old Time Herald Magazine will want to read about his further adventures before, during, and after those episodes.

A companion to the CD, it includes music, tablature, and fingering for all 17 tracks, as well as tips and tricks for banjo players, a poem "Banjo" by Tommy Thompson, and a brief section on reading music and music theory.
It is 48 pages in length, in an oversize, easy-to-read format, with a lay-flat, plastic coil binding that won't deform like metal ones.
It's suitable for all levels of players, as long as they are already familiar with the basics of frailing or clawhammer style. It will also be interesting for bluegrass pickers for its inclusion of my arrangement of Scott Joplin's "Maple Leaf Rag", and another original finger-picking tune, "Peaceful Times".
